Structural Integration-

Structural Integration’s aim is to unwind the strain patterns residing in your body’s myofascial system, restoring it to its natural balance, alignment, length, and ease. This is accomplished by deep, slow, fascial and myofascial manipulation, coupled with movement re-education. Various brands of Structural Integration are Kinesis Myofascial Integration, Rolfing and Hellerwork. To read about the series please, visit www.hellerwork.com

CranioSacral Therapy-

A CranioSacral therapy session involves the therapist placing their hands on the patient, which allows them to tune into what they call the CranioSacral rhythm. The practitioner gently works with the spine and the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of nerve passages are said to be eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord is said to be optimized, and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their proper position. CranioSacral therapists use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Pregnancy/Prenatal/Maternity Massage-

Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.

Other Personalized Sessions:

Designed specifically to suit the individuals needs by drawing from the expansive list of massage techniques below,
that can stand alone or be fused together, such as…

Connective Tissue Massage

This technique is effective in releasing restrictions in the muscles, non-contractile supportive connective tissue, and contractile supportive tissue. Connective tissue massage is effective in treating conditions like neck pain, low back, whip lash, etc. This technique provides relief from symptoms of disorders affecting the neuromusculoskeletal system by releasing restrictions within the myofascial network.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is not uncommon for receivers of deep tissue massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly.

Foot Reflexology

Reflexology involves the physical act of applying pressure to the feet with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. In the structural theory the premise is that such work effects a physical change to the body.

Hot Stone Massage

A stone massage uses cold or water-heated stones to apply pressure and heat to the body. Stones coated in oil can also be used by the therapist delivering various massaging strokes. The hot stones used are commonly Basalt stones (or lava rocks) which over time have become extremely polished and smooth. As the stones are placed along the recipient’s back, they help to retain heat which then deeply penetrates into the muscles, releasing tension.

Lomi-Lomi Massage

Lomi-Lomi, meaning “massage” in the Hawaiian language, is the word used today to describe Hawaiian massage, traditionally called lomi meaning “to rub, press, squeeze, massage; to work in and out, as the claws of a contented cat”. Lomi-Lomi is a holistic healing tradition beyond simple massage.

Lymphatic Drainage

An LDT session is used to help lymphedema. The manual therapist will utilize specific movements to lightly press and move the lymph out of the tissues and throughout the body in very specific directions.

Ortho-Bionomy

Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, non-invasive, osteopathically-based form of body therapy which is highly effective in working with chronic stress, injuries and pains or problems associated with postural and structural imbalances. The practitioner uses gentle movements and positions of the body to facilitate the change of stress and pain patterns. A strong focus is placed on the comfort of the individual, no forceful manipulations are used. The practitioner also suggests home exercises that individuals can do to further facilitate the neuromuscular re-education process begun in the session. Ortho-Bionomy is very effective in helping alleviate both acute and chronic pain and stress patterns by reducing chronic muscle tension, soothing the joints, increasing flexibility, improving circulation, and relaxing the entire body.

Repetitive Use Injury Therapy

With the Repetitive Use Injury Therapy, scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness and poor circulation.

Visceral Manipulation

Jean-Pierre Barral’s clinical work with the viscera led to his development of a form of manual therapy.  The focus is on the internal organs, their environment and the potential influence on many structural and physiological dysfunctions. The term he coined for this therapy was Visceral Manipulation.  For more information please, visit  www.barralinstitute.com
